Nutrition and sports

For a few years, playing some sort of sport with a dog has been reaching a high level of popularity among dog fans and owners. There are many sports that we can play with our furry friends, such as: canicross, agility, heelwork to music (dog dancing), mantrailing, discdog, jumping, etc.

Whatever discipline we choose, the truth is that playing a sport involves a physical as well as a mental requirement for dogs that, physically, particularly involves the cardiovascular and skeletal muscle systems and, at the mental-emotional level, produces a great stimulation of the nervous system, both central and autonomous. Due to the requirements of the exercise, the sympathetic nervous system is activated to increase heart rate, glycogen levels, provide more oxygen to the blood, etc. to prepare the dog’s body to optimally perform the necessary effort to practice the sport in question.

On the other hand, the central nervous system is responsible for secreting neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which are responsible for feelings of well-being and regulating the pleasure centre respectively.

As we have mentioned, during exercise, muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc, must make a great effort and are subject to great stress, so that, to avoid injuries, it is essential that the joints of our furry friends are in optimal conditions. This is the reason why we include ingredients in our product that cover all the needs that our beloved furry friends need to be prepared for any sport activity both physically and mentally.

As you can see, our food is composed of all the necessary ingredients to guarantee the contribution of the essential nutrients so that our furry friends have a healthy body all round, and are physically, mentally and emotionally prepared for any sport activity and, in addition, have a short recovery process at the muscular, respiratory and cardiac levels.

It is clear that in the practice of certain activities at the highest level that require very high intensity efforts for prolonged periods, supplements will be required by the dogs that practice them, which is why our nutrition experts are working on specific supplements for improving both the well-being and physical ability of our furry friends.
