Olive oil, liquid gold?

Olive oil, liquid gold?

Olive oil is extracted from the fruit of a tree which is common in Mediterranean countries known as the olive tree (Olea Europaea). This product has achieved worldwide fame due to its use in cooking as well as its nutritional properties which present great benefits for both humans and our furry friends.

Olive oil has become world famous because of its great antioxidant properties which protect cells, fight free radicals, enhance our pets’ immune systems, delay the onset of degenerative diseases and contribute to healthy joints, which makes it suitable for dogs with joint problems and for elderly dogs.

It also has mild laxative effects which make it an essential ally in combating mild constipation; but perhaps this oil is best known for being rich in essential fatty acids (EFA) that cannot be synthesised in the body of our pets and therefore must be taken in through food. EFAs actively work in metabolic processes and are vital for the transport of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K). Essential fatty acids can be monounsaturated and/or polyunsaturated. The best known quality of monounsaturated fatty acids is that they have the ability to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL) and contribute to maintaining a balance between both types of cholesterol. Polyunsaturated fatty acids have excellent protective qualities for the cardiovascular system.

In addition, essential fatty acids have anti-inflammatory qualities which, as we mentioned before, makes them very useful in the treatment of degenerative bone and joint diseases, but for people who want to ensure their pet has the best diet possible, that guarantees the overall health of their body, olive oil has a great advantage because of its high linoleic acid (Omega 6) and Alpha – linolenic acid (Omega 3) content, making it great for maintaining the health of the skin and hair on our furry friends. Omega 3 fatty acids are absolutely essential to maintaining excellent skin health and ensuring cellular regeneration of the dermis providing softness, vigour and elasticity to our pets’ coat. Omega 6 fatty acids specialise in combating problems related to the skin and hair of our furry friends, so their ingestion through food ensures the intake of essential nutrients to combat skin dryness, seborrhea, dermatitis, inflammation of the hair follicles, etc. contributing decisively to keeping our dogs’ skin healthy and giving their fur that vitality, brightness and elasticity that is so beautiful externally, but, beyond that, is also an indication that your dog’s skin is healthy.

As we have seen, this product can protect joint health, improve the transport of fat-soluble vitamins, has great antioxidant properties, boosts the immune system and guarantees health for your pets’ skin and fur that cannot be achieved with essential fatty acid supplements, as olive oil contributes in a way that works synergistically and strengthens the individual effects. As if this were not enough, the incorporation of olive oil into our product increases the taste and improves the texture, making it much more enjoyable and tasty for our furry friends.
